Prague’s longstanding popularity shows no signs of abating.
In 2024 the city welcomed more than 8 million visitors, which is a 9% increase when compared to 2023.
492,748 of those visitors came from the United States, meaning that the U.S. came in second place (behind Germany and above the UK) in the list of the top three international visitor groups.

And 2025 is set to be another huge year for Prague.
Here’s why the city is continuing to soar in popularity with American travelers.
A Special Celebration
One huge reason to visit Prague in 2025 is that one of the city’s most famous attractions, the Gothic Powder Tower, is celebrating its 550th anniversary.

The Powder Tower was first constructed in 1475 and serves as the gateway to the Royal Route. This is a road that leads to Prague Castle.
The city of Prague is going all-out to celebrate this special anniversary by hosting events throughout the year, including curated tours of the structure and special exhibitions. You can even attend medieval craft workshops!
Perhaps most excitingly, to honor this event you can get a discounted multi-ticket pass giving you access to the Powder Tower, Old Town Bridge Tower and the Mala Strana Bridge Tower.

If you just want to visit the Powder Tower, then make this your first stop of the day, because you can get 50% off the admission fee during the first hour after opening each day.
Eternally Popular Attractions
I’ve already briefly mentioned Prague Castle, but if you only have time to visit one historic attraction in the city then this should be it. This epic castle is the world’s largest ancient castle complex and it dominates the city.
Although this might not be a new attraction, in 2025 newly restored sections of St. Vitus Cathedral on the grounds have opened, so this will be a key focus of tours of the castle.

Other attractions that will never go out of fashion, and that you have to visit if you’re spending time in Prague, include the Charles Bridge. This is a famous landmark that connects the Old Town to Prague Castle and is a great spot to get incredible views of the city.
Prague’s astronomical clock, which is attached to the Old Town Hall is also a must-see attraction that was constructed during the Medieval period and is a beautiful piece full of incredible details.
Away from the city’s headline stealing architecture? Prague is also a warm and welcoming city with a great nightlife scene.

The streets around Wenceslas Square are a great place to visit if you’re looking for bustling bars and pubs and if you really want to party then make your way to Karlovy Lazne. With five floors, this is one of the biggest nightclubs in Europe.
Unique Events and Festivals
One of my favorite times to travel to any new city is during a big festival or celebration.
They lend the whole city a festive atmosphere, and I love rubbing shoulders with the local people as they let their hair down.

Luckily, Prague has got plenty of events and festivals to choose from!
Spring fairs and festivals are popular across Europe and Prague will host their own version of these between March 1 – April 21. The St Matthews Fair dates back to the 16th Century and is one of the most popular fairs in Czechia. This year there will be more than 130 rides and attractions to enjoy.
From March 1 – August 21 the New Building of the National Museum will host an Olympic Stories exhibition. This is a fascinating exhibition produced in conjunction with the Czech Olympic committee to celebrates the achievements of the country’s athletes from 1908 to 2024.

And if you’re a foodie then time your visit around the Strelecký Island Wine and Food Festival. This takes place in the center of Prague from May 30 – June 1 and is an amazing opportunity to taste food and wine from across the country while also listening to live music performances by musicians from across the city.
